Student Success Programs
To be successful, it’s important to understand how online learning works. With online learning, your student can learn at home, or wherever there’s an internet connection, while enjoying the benefits and support of a school program. They’ll complete a mix of online lessons and offline activities, using K12-provided books and materials.* State-licensed teachers provide instruction in virtual sessions called “Class Connects.”
What to Expect
Personalized Approach
At Insight School of Minnesota (ISMN), we believe in unlocking every student’s potential, no matter what challenges they have faced or may still be facing. We couple proven teaching techniques with interactive, online learning to help students feel engaged, empowered, and challenged.
By incorporating audio, video, live chat, printed materials, and group interactions into the curriculum, our students can learn in the ways that work best for them. Class Connects provide one-to-one student–teacher meetings and live instructional sessions. Insight high school students enjoy a weekly advisory period to build strong relationships with classmates and a caring advisory teacher.
To address each student’s individual needs, we give them a benchmark test to assess their skills in various subjects. From there, we develop an Individualized Learning Plan to place students in appropriate courses, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and chart their progress.
In order to ease students into the ISMN school environment, we give them a lightened course load their first year to ensure they get off to a good start. This helps students get used to ISMN’s structure and sets them up for success. We also help students map out career and higher education goals by offering a college and career planning tool and personalized support.
Focused Attention
We work to provide students the focused attention they need to perform at grade level. When necessary, ISMN’s academic team identifies students’ skill deficiencies and develops individualized remediation plans to address any gaps. We then prescribe a personalized plan for each student, utilize a proven model of instruction, and track and analyze performance.
Block scheduling allows students to concentrate their focus on fewer courses at a time and, therefore, have room in their schedules to recover credits for previously failed courses, if necessary.
